This is truly an amazing historical millinery fashion item from the elegant 1930s\'! The brown felt hat is an open crown fedora surrounded by a medium width upturned brim. The front of the crown is gathered and has a narrow felt bow at the top center. The outstanding feature of the hat is the draped and gathered fabric \"snood\", which is attached to the inside of the crown. Vintage hats with snoods are highly sought after by collectors. In the case of this hat, the snood also helps wearing the hat in a tilted position.The headband shows makeup soiling inside the front, which is not noticeable when worn. Cleaning would not be recommended given the hat\'s age. A “snood” is a net or fabric “bag” worn at the back of the head to secure hair, popular in the 1940s for safety in factories and as a fashion accessory. Vintage styles were decorative hairnets or made of gathered fabric. Tilt hats were popular in the 1930s and 1940s. They were worn at an angle and held to the back of the head by a strap, rigid ring, elastic band beneath the hair, an extended cap, or a combination of these.
